Volunteer Roles & Training

Our swim meets rely on volunteers. Any student volunteers will receive SSL hours & we welcome volunteers as young as 6th grade! Please consider signing up to volunteer at meets. The pool deck gets HOT and you are likely to get splashed!

Recommended apparel:

  • T-shirt
  • Shorts
  • Sneakers / sandals

We need the following roles filled at every competition (descriptions found here):

  • BEGINNER No training needed
    • Timers (9-12)
    • Competition Score Verifier (1)
    • Dive Scorers/Table Workers (2)
    • Runner (1)
  • INTERMEDIATE Minimal training required
    • Dive or Swim Announcer (1) 
    • Dive Judges (2-3) 
    • Head Timer or Assistant Head Timer (1)
  • ADVANCED Certification required 
    • Stroke & Turn Official (1-2) 
    • Swim Referee (1) 
    • Dive Referee (1) 
    • Swim Starter (1)
